Migrante Alberta Statement on October 21st Peasant’s Day Against Corruption

Continue flooding the streets with protest and demand accountability!

ree

Migrante Alberta extends our salute to all Kababayans who courageously filled the streets on September 21 and the weeks after, with more than 100,000 people gathering at Luneta and thousands more joining protests across the Philippines and abroad. These historic mobilizations show the growing anger of the Filipino people toward corruption, impunity, and the lack of accountability in government.

It has now been two months since the Senate hearing on the flood control projects began on August 19, 2025. In that time, we have seen two Senate Presidents, several Blue Ribbon Committee chairs, countless press conferences, a new commission, and a series of high-profile statements from those implicated in corruption. Yet, despite all the drama and political noise, no one has been held accountable. Instead, ordinary citizens and anti-corruption protesters have been targeted, harassed, and even jailed for speaking out. This only exposes how deep-rooted political dynasties, patronage politics, and bureaucratic corruption continue to oppress the people while protecting the powerful.

We call this what it is — a political circus that distracts from the real issue: the systematic plunder of public funds while communities continue to suffer from floods, poverty, and government neglect. We are urging our fellow kababayans to join the TAMA NA! alliance so that we can all be united in our stand against the repressive and corrupt US-Marcos regime. We are angry and fed up and we are one with the Filipino people who are calling for Marco, Duterte and their cronies to be accountable for their crimes!

We migrants in Canada are inspired by these massive protests. We vow to intensify and contribute to the growing discontent and clamor for justice. From our communities abroad, we stand with our fellow Filipinos in demanding transparency, accountability, and the protection of the people’s right to protest.

Bongbong Marcos – king of corruption and fascism!

Marcos-Duterte, one and the same!

Both corrupt, oppressive, fascist and imperialist puppets!

Down with bureaucrat capitalism!
